It is the first of its generation: the MTG-I1, the first satellite of the third generation! of European weather satellites. In December 2022, this satellite was launch into space by rocket. This mark the beginning of
European Organisation for the Exploitation! of Meteorological Satellites
, or EUMETSAT for short, is using a new generation of weather satellites. EUMETSAT! has now publish the first image of the satellite today, Thursday.
Realistic and detail image
This image is a so-call “true color” image, sinc! e not only the colors of the clouds, but also those of the Earth! ‘s surface are particularly realistic. Such images are obtain through a new type of processing of the data measur by the new satellite. Previous generations of European geostationary satellites were not able to provide such realistic and detail images.
The MTG-I1 (Meteosat Third Generation – Imager) satellite is the first element of the new generation of European geostationary satellites, which were develop in long-term cooperation between the two partner organizations EUMETSAT and the European Space Agency ESA. In addition to the MTG-I1, two other new satellites will be sent into space.
The satellites of the new generation
will provide much more precise data in the future than taiwan phone number library before, they will transmit this data more frequently and in higher resolution. Over the next five years, the new satellites will gradually replace the previous generation, which has been in orbit since 2002.
Three stationary satellites
The new generation of European geostationary satellites consists of three satellites: two imagers (MTG-I1 and MTG-I2) and a sounder (MTG-S). The two imagers carry instruments for detail observation of numerous physical properties of clouds and lightning. This allows the processes taking place in the atmosphere to be monitor around the clock. The sounder satellite MTG-S, on the other hand, will be dicat to measuring the temperature and humidity profiles along the 15-20 km long meteorologically active layer of the atmosphere.
In the future, two imager and one sounder satellites will deliver high-resolution images and data from 36,000 kilometers above the Earth. (Image: EUMETSAT.)
Weather satellites provide important information on cloud why is rakuten in japan so successful types and development, and on the temperature and humidity profile of the atmosphere. They play a crucial role in monitoring the meteorological situation around the clock, forecasting the weather, improving severe weather warnings, and studying the progression of adb directory global climate change.
The new generation of European weather satellites will provide the meteorological community with data and images of much higher quality than those currently available. The images are more detail and have more realistic colours. They will be deliver more frequently and will make it possible to see atmospheric phenomena that were previously difficult to detect.
