April 2023 on a global level

The global overview
April was warmer than average in northwestern, central and southern Africa, in central Asia around the Caspian Sea, and in southeastern Asia and Japan. Northern Canada, the northeastern United States, Argentina, Chile, and most of Antarctica were also warmer than the 1991-2020 average.

April temperatures were below the 1991-2020 average in Alaska, Mongolia, central Canada, the Arabian Peninsula, India, southeastern South America, and most of Australia. Alaska locally recorded its coldest April on record. Mongolia experienced a cold April following a bitterly cold winter.

The air temperature over the oceans
Above-average air temperatures were recorded over most of the ocean surface. Notable were the above-average warm conditions in the Weddell Sea (Antarctica), the northern Pacific and the equatorial eastern Pacific. In contrast, the April temperature over a large part of the Arctic Ocean remained below the 1991-2020 average.

The mild conditions in the equatorial eastern slovenia phone number library Pacific indicate the end of the La Niña phase with below-average air temperatures that lasted for almost three years.

April 2023 in Europe
April 2023 brought great temperature contrasts in Europe. In southwestern Europe, the temperature was well above the 1991-2020 average. Spain and Portugal recorded record temperatures for April. The extreme heat extended as far as Morocco, which also reported a record-warm April. On April 27, a temperature of 38.8 °C was measured in Córdoba, Spain.

Above-average temperatures were also recorded in northern Scandinavia and western Russia. In contrast, April temperatures remained below the 1991–2020 average in a broad band from the UK to southeastern Europe. Averaged across Europe, April was 0.23 °C above the 1991–2020 average.

April in Switzerland
April was persistently cool across Switzerland. In the adb directory middle of the month, there was plenty of snow in the Eastern Alps and later in the Southern Alps. The changeable weather brought above-average rainfall across the board and left little room for the spring sun in most areas.
